While other horror games are still trying to cover your head, Little Nightmares 2 understands modern horror. Babadook, Midsommar, Get Out, Hereditary… This modern horror classic avoided jumping horror and gore in favor of slowly building up chills, an insecure atmosphere, and constant fear. Like its predecessor, Little Nightmares 2 weaves all these emotions through gameplay, and others in the genre are still focusing on bumping into the night.
Speaking of washing your head on things, I’m sure Little Nightmares 2 will be the biggest video game horror of the year, even in early February. You play as the little boy mono and try to navigate through a world full of big, monstrous adults. And one of these adults is a strict senior school teacher. That alone is enough to scare me, imagine my horror as her neck starts to slip off her shoulders with a very vicious cramp.
